Hats made of chocolate wrappers, recycled coffee capsules, leftovers from a sewn product, nutshells, straws, and plastic bottles turned into flowers and an icicle, bread clips!
It was difficult to imagine, from everything that we use in everyday life, instead of garbage bins, talented millineries create their masterpieces.
Inspiration, beauty and style are with us!

MISS GAY AND MISS TRANS AUSTRALIA INTERNATIONAL 2020

Miss Gay and Transgender International Pageant....
wow!
what a brand!
hat an amazing event!
Every year they do something out of box, something mesmerising and eye opening!.

The show started on time as usual and at the best location in Melbourne, at The Williamstown Town Hall. It’\ is the third year for me joining the same event at the same location and through the same company and I love it a lot!

As a Marquis Fashion Magazine journalist,.I am so delighted and privileged to be part of this event.

Miss Gay and Transgender International Pageant took place on 1 February 2020. The show started with the most massive, vibrant and inspirational message to save the world while paying tribute to the Australian Bush fire Victims.

The festival dresses, costumes were very distinctive: with colours and extravagant forms. Being a fashion designer by hands and in my heart I appreciate the creativity and the ambience that went into these designs. It was something you can’t forget for the rest of your life. The outfits were inspired by Earth Elements: earth , water , sea, nature , fire and what not... The fashion was at its peaks and the runway was like waiting to have these contestants on it to show the world that "yes we all are humans and we all do care for similar things in the world and standing to support our human race without differentiating between the colour, the cast , the religion and the sex belongings".

After the grand tribute show moved forward to each contestant performances and, please trust me, that it was all at another level of presentation one never expect in the normal show! The sexiness, the hotness and the talent was speaking louder that words on stage!

I am pretty sure the pageant judges we in deep confusion to who they to pick tonight as a deserved winner - they were all spectacular to say the least! The talent round lead to swimwear and that slightly cold evening turned into hot straightaway! What a wonderful and fantastic night indeed, so much fun!

All the contestants moved forward to the final round  that was about the "questions and answers" where the participants have shown their "beauty with brain" . In spite of all the contestants being from different parts of the world they managed to give some very intelligent answers to the high judges .

The show wrapped up with he great tribute to the past year winners and with one fantastic celebration of the new winners.

I feel very delighted. I say,  my heart felt deep gratitude to all the contestants and to Bohemian Rhapsody Club and Magazine as well as Marquis Fashion Magazine that I had a rare chance to be present and express my view on this fabulous show and contest. I am also very grateful to Miss Gay and Transgender International Pageant teams for allowing me to witness this great event .

Dear Organisers and show Managers, please kindly continue the great work you are doing, be proud of yourselves and who your are and enjoy the life. What you do not many can materialise. I am so proud of you all!

Thank you

KALEIDOSCOPE
website
review by Erkin Kalayci

"A kaleidoscope is an optical instrument with two or more reflecting surfaces tilted to each other in an angle, so that one or more objects on one end of the mirrors are seen as a regular symmetrical pattern when viewed from the other end, due to repeated reflection." (Wikipedia).
This fashion show definitely deserves its name. Kaleidoscope. It was run by the Box Hill Institute, Fashion wing and was one of the most spectacular fashion shows I have experienced in Melbourne. I thought: this is how it should be, always! The branding of the show, the outfits presented, and the overall feel of the event, then Deakin Edge as the choice of the most beautiful Melbourne venues, the visual and the audio effects, the lighting, the running and presenting of the show itself and much more - everything was simply First Class.

What is more to add? The catwalk itself was tastefully amazing. If I did not know that the show was all about the Institute and the young gifted students-designers, I would never believe that the designers were just juniors and graduates from Box Hill Institute.

I always seek conceptual art in fashion shows. When I am watching any fashion show, I would like to see extreme and abstract cuts, not the casual collection of the designers. In my opinion, the true and highly artistic fashion runway should be a canvas for the transmission of ideas, which I think is more important than the creation of the dress itself.

Kaleidoscope was what was I looking for a long time in Melbourne.

All the collections and designers presented had their own themes and concepts. By the own words of the event, they were "...fashion collections, inspired by personal journeys, featuring each unique graduate's exclusive design signature." Some tool me to a journey from Japan, then to Africa and made a brief stop in Nepal. Some made me feel like I was in a graffiti alley, which was full of exotic creatures. Some made me experience as if I was with the punk gang, with no color at all, sometime I felt inside the kindergarten with vibrant colors- it was a real kaleidoscope I went through. On the other hand, I felt like some of the pieces were talking about the same thing at the same time. This gathers all collections under a superior concept, which made me so well filled in, happy and satisfied with the concepts.

What is more to be added? I gave the show two thumbs up - Kaleidoscope rocked as well as the Box Hill Institute who presented these art works.

I am sure we will be hearing about these talented young designers soon on bigger stages of Melbourne and across the world. Well done!

PIR has been formed to give Designers of the Pacific a chance to get forward and be inspired by the audience’s warm applauds. The show presents already well-known local up and coming and beginner designers as well as a host of international designers. The guests really enjoyed the evening gowns, swimwear, ethnical designs and resort outfits.
Lepou. The Founder Failepou Peni – she is such a beautiful lady inside and out with 37 years of experience in the fashion industry and has lived an extraordinary life! She is not only a fashion lover but also a mentor, trainer and supporter for designers both from emerging and the well-established fashion arena.
Her collection of resort wear and heart breaking dresses are so beautiful and feminine! Lepou’s inspiration are 3 things: her mum, husband Pati and her 3 beautiful daughters. All that seems impossible are coming possible with such a strong team and God’s blessing.
C+V. Candice (Australia) and Vaniece (Samoa) are 2 ladies who found their strength in collaborating modern design and materials with traditional Polynesian art. The culmination of their collection is a red dress which gave the guests a “WOW” impression followed by a loud applause.
Brandon. Brendon Peni presented his streetwear collection. It was his 4th time showcasing his collection with PIR. Young and bold people who are ready to impress the crowd and have people turning their heads- this is all about Brandon’s collection.
Public Island. Iki Haangana was born in a very talented family (Mother and Granny taught him how to sew and his Father is an amazing artist). So, he couldn’t become anything else but e fashion designer. He loves what he does and is always trying to grows and develop his skillset further. His jewellery and foot wear also gave the whole look a special zest.
Kovie Richardson. Kovie is the daughter of a sewer and she learned hand sewing and embroidery from her early age. She attended the PIR in 2016 in Sydney and was inspired by art, color, contour and nature. “Follow your heart and not following the crowd makes you inimitable”. Her simple black dress with the ball shaped bag are not that simple, but very elegant and wearable.
Kalani. Wandid Korimbo is a talented designer from Papua New Guinea. Her prints are the mixture from her village Alukune in the Rigo District and other Provinces around PNG. Bright, brilliant and very different! This line “Kalani” is dedicated to her father who loved to wear Bula shirts. Her masterpieces are easy to remember and recognise in crowd.
Habitra. Hahn Tran is a tiny Vietnamese woman who believes that fashion is about self-care, self-love and saying “I’m worthy”. She wants people who wear her master pieces to have fun and feel empowered by her designs. Her elegant dresses are flowing with light material and are very feminine.
I personally would love to wear her outfits and definitely would feel very special!
Tulela Boutique. Dinah Schmidt is the exclusive evening wear designer who created her brand in 2013. The meaning “Tulela” is The Rising Sun (her mother’s name). She is a proud Samoan woman who values her heritage and we can see it in her traditional island’s patterns.
Stiches. Asha and Shaleena Ramlu is an Australian, family-owned and run business based in Sydney. “If you can design, sew and stitch, you can always make a living, as everyone needs or wants, pretty clothes”. Stiches style and designs have been handed down from generation to generation. Good luck in your business, you are a beautiful and talented woman!
