review David Black and Grace Liu

Grace and I had an amazing time the Wedding Expo at Caulfield Racecourse on Sunday 19th March 2023.  There were so many wonderful vendors there that you could easily organise your dream wedding in just one afternoon.

I know that any engaged couples that are reading this are likely to be getting a bit jealous at this point due to the event being over, but don’t worry … Wedding Expos Australia have been organising these for years and there are upcoming expos all around Australia.  They will be back in Melbourne at the Melbourne Showgrounds on the 12th November.

These fabulous bridal expos feature wedding professionals including florists, honeymoon locations, wedding invitations, bridal dresses, wedding photography, celebrants, stylists, wedding favours, health & fitness, men’s suits, wedding venues, jewellery, shoes, makeup, music, photo-booths, videography, wedding cars and more.

It won’t be possible to cover every single vendor that we saw, so I will just talk about a few of the highlights.  This is a magical event that absolutely must be experienced to understand fully.  I know that the many happy couples we saw, each holding their sparkly gold bags emblazoned with “I’m Getting Married”, would certainly agree.

Inside the gift bag itself, which is sponsored by Splendid Photos & Video www.splendid.net.au , was a lovely heart shaped chocolate in gold foil by Bonbinniere Brands, who make designer chocolates.   There was also a pearl hairclip from Tilly M www.tillym.com.au , who make fine handmade Jewellery.  There were more gifts and gorgeous brochures inside, and we certainly needed this bag for all the goodies we were given during the event.

The Caulfield Racecourse was a great choice of venue, with more than enough space to fit the countless vendors.  Before we even entered it though, we were stunned at the amazing Hummer from Hummer Limousines www.hummerlimos.com.au .  The bar inside was lit with neon and just grabbed our attention.  The owners were lovely people who let Grace go inside and have a photoshoot.

Once inside the venue, Grace and I were given an amazing non-alcoholic drink by the Boujee Bar Co http://theboujeebarco.com while listening to the Electric Cello of Stephanie Sarah.  Stephanie’s animated performance made classic music exciting, while giving it into a more contemporary feel.

We were given gifts from the Pearl Resort, which is a Fiji Pacific Harbour retreat and perfect for honeymooners.  The essential oils, body butter, pen and gorgeous purse were amongst the many items that those staying at the resort would enjoy.  Grace will be using the body butter tonight and dreaming of spending time at this paradise.

One of the more curious gifts Grace was given was a DIY ice mold from Luxe Ice https://www.luxeice.com.au .  These caught our eye from across the room.  If you are looking for that wow factor, then having one of these for each table, complete with a champagne bottle inside would certainly do the trick.  You simply fill the mold with decorations such as flowers or fruit, add water and freeze!

There were musicians aplenty for those looking to find the perfect entertainment.  From classical to pop, there was something for all tastes.  I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the Connotations band connotations.com.au .  I danced away to a medley of modern tunes played with bass, guitar, drums with vocals by Liz Violi.  Her soulful voice was amazing and reminded me of Diana Ross meets Aretha Franklin.

For those that are worried about their dancing skills, there was Forever Dance foreverdance.com.au , who can provide the lessons to get your skills up to scratch.  Once you have that under control, there was no shortage of photographers and videographers, each displaying beautiful hard bound printed photo albums for you to cherish your memories forever.
On the subject of photos, the Oz Photo Booth https://ozphotobooths.com.au was one that caught our attention.  Their set up was both very professional and high tech.  You stand in front of a mirror and the controls come up on it.  You just press the buttons displayed on the mirror itself.  Grace loved this one and they gave us a lovely bag with a sparkly heart key ring.  Grace has already put that onto her handbag.

We were also given some beautiful thermos flasks and pens from City Fertility cityfertility.com.au , so I can say that even after the big day and the honeymoon, you are not forgotten because there are many other services available that were represented at the Wedding Expo.

There are some who might be thinking that you can research all of this online, but even if you discounted the physical experience of being there and the numerous gifts and samples, I can tell you that the sheer amount of brochures we picked up are much more informative than trying to surf the web for information.  If you are planning your wedding, honeymoon or even your engagement, this is a must see event.

The event was attended by various dignitaries, including Indonesian and Australian governmental officials, buyers, selected traders, designers, and media reporters. The runway show was accompanied by excellent music that perfectly complemented the garments' beauty and elegance. The ambiance of the Immigration Museum was perfect for the show, creating a sense of cultural fusion. Additionally, the food served at the networking dinner was delicious, providing the guests with an opportunity to experience Indonesian cuisine.

On the 26th of February, the annual Ms Diva Australia competition was held at The Village Green Hotel, Mulgrave. A personality contest as much as a beauty contest open to all age groups.

I absolutely adored the floral decor lining the elevated runway. The lightning was spectacular along with the prepared media crew catching all the lighting, angles and gorgeous gowns! I fell in love with the versatility of the pageant. The categories included introduction, question and answer, fun fashion and the talent section. The talent section was my absolute favourite where the contestants showcased their unique skill set, proudly representing their culture! There was never a dull moment, with the appearance of Mickey Mouse and constant opportunities for the audience to get involved in games and the runway. Incorporating the audience in the experience of pageantry was a heart warming and inclusive decision.

Wonderful to see all age groups incorporated in the beauty pageant as well as seeing both genders represented! Ms Diva is inclusive, caring and supportive. Nelin Beauty was the sponsored makeup artist for the event and absolutely blew me away with her flawless finishes on the gorgeous contests!

Overall, the winner was Ishu Bhagat and runner-up Khaisha Sethi! Given my previous pageant knowledge being a state finalist for Miss World Australia and Miss Australia Pageants I would have to say the judges scored exceptionally well and were fair in judgement. It was clear that not only on that stage but behind the scenes the women were incredibly proud to be a part of this competition. Every face was beaming with love and appreciation for the system that Anamika Swarup Srivastava directs and organises!

Pageantry is such a wonderful way to showcase confidence, talent and personality! In conclusion, Ms Diva has made a significant impact on contestants, communities and businesses! A gorgeous family oriented event where endless possibilities can happen if you just believe.

On Saint Mangos Lane, in the heart of Docklands, in Melbourne Australia, there is a little slice of Latino heaven called Espacio Salvaje.

Espacio Salvaje presented Catwalk Summer-Autumn Collection 2023 by Latina Styles and Noelle Handmade Shoes on 19 February 2023. A gorgeous event filled with Latin beats and runway fashions.

Latina Styles is an ethical woman’s Latin fashion with sustainable designs, unique styles and premium quality. Their range of clothing is Activewear, Casualware, Outfits for going out, Lingerie and Swimwear. Noelle Handmade Shoes are designed and made in Colombia. Noelle has a range of genuine leather goods and accessories for women and men.

Shoes, boots, sandals, jackets, belts, handbags and hats are all included in their classy leather line.   The Catwalk beautifully and skilfully combined many different styles and looks to wear to different events from a party to the gym. If you get an outfit from Latina Styles, you won’t find another person wearing the same item. Made to fit a woman’s curves, the clothing is bold and feminine.

The clothing Latina Styles sells are flattering and made for every type of body. The models are real customers of Espacio Salvaje showing the range of normal bodies in different sizes, shapes and colours. Clothing was delightful in bright colours and florals for the beach and subdued neutrals with accents of black and lace. The models were dressed creatively, tastefully choosing from the range of wares available in the shop. The hats and shoes were exquisitely made. There was a feeling of fantasy and fun throughout Catwalk Sunday night.

Espacio Salvaje is a South American Marketplace that supports Latina small and medium enterprises. Latina Styles and Noelle Handmade Shoes are a strong force in Espacio Salvaje. In the future, they want to run workshops to help empower start-ups and entrepreneurs. They are committed to supporting and promoting other Latina
