One word: sensational idea, sensationally done movie! We are not great fans of thrillers, but this film in particular we believe deserves the full attention. the acting is sensational by the whole crew but James McAvoy who plays a man with multiple personalities deserves a special attention as he is beyond any human meaning of the word "brilliant"! his performance is astonishing. His original transformations from a fashion designer to the old lady Patrica, from the beast to the German-like Kevins are so sensational I could not understand first that it was all one person acting. The tension is created in the movie by many effects, but the outstanding performance of James is one of them. He is scary but not as much as attractive (in the sense of us turning into the "curious" watchers - what is going to happen next) We believe the film will a full attention not only from the side of the horror film lovers but from the normal audience. It has blood and scary parts but they are so well balanced and not disgusting as one would expect. I personally was interested in this film in regards to its "medium" nature and abduction of your physical body by multiple personalities as well as the spiritual aspect of such existence inside one physical body and theoretical investigations of the main character's psychologist. The rest of the film is just like the shell but he core is amazing - the idea is marvelous and its application deserves the attention and not from the people who love esoteric studies. Thrilling, thrilling, thrilling!
The story line of the film takes place in 1920-sm when the alcohol was prohibited and everyone was drinking, when the criminals were working on every second street and no one cared and when the guns were carried and used. There is liquor, very well dressed and armed gentlemen and very bad behaving ladies, there are money flowing and the mafia is acting. This will remind you of Wolf Of Wall Street and Great Gatsby but only because it was co-directed by Leo. Ben Affleck is getting better and better one movie after another: he flows through them like a a shooting star waiting for the Oscar's role to come by to him. Ben owns every single scene with his charisma and genuine acting. he is a gangster himself and he is a son of the police officer at the same time. Surprised? Wait till you see more....He plays it always safe: with the friends and bosses on his side and the corrupted police officers on the other side. His love life is almost fixed... with a small exception... Joe (Ben Affleck) is a natural outlaw who outsmarts everyone... well... almost everyone... The dark side always demands a victim on the altar of the light and t comes and the price is very high. The film has a good pace and almost every character is suitable and in place. It is pleasant to watch: it has its funny moments too. I bet many of you will enjoy this good entertainment too.
A life of a black American guy is shown from his childhood though his teen years to his adult age. He lives in Miami in a troubled neighbourhood where the currency is drugs and the value is the amount if it. The achievement of a human being is considered to be accomplished if the person survives without getting damaged morally, physically or psychologically. Chiron is quiet, shy and neglected by his drug addicted mother who is never at home (please forget the dinner cooked on time). Chiron is very thin and not outspoken young boy however his eyes "talk" ; he also has a good friend and they are inseparable. He is not cared of, his mother is busy with her own life which consists of looking for drugs, the dose of narcotics and deep sleep after. Chiron grows into a teenager but nothing seems to change: he is still the same inside and outside. Chiron is bullied at school and it only adds to his withdrawn character. The changes come with his new friend Kevin apearing in his life who, together with his girlfriend takes a responsibility to be Chiron's guide in life. Kevin's care is alike a breath of fresh air, a den where Chiron can hide fro his abusive schoolmates and his demanding mother. But who will grow from this young led, Chiron, you would never take a guess. Where life will take him - this is the end of the story which no one could have predicted... I found the story to be bewitching and charming as well as fascinating considering we know so little about the life of this part of the society. It is a gentle and very touching story of one life shown in such vivid colors.
It is a terrific fantasy for the kids. I personally think that the film be absolutely loved by the boys - there are cars, trucks and cool creatures plus it is a feel-good film. It is simple - the plot is very straight forward but it is fun to watch for the children. Although one can see the film is quite cheaply made there is a certain part of enjoyment that you can not miss. There is an interesting detail that we have noticed while watching: most of the actors look alike - especially men, like they were all taken from the 70-s James Bond movies - I tend to believe they were all James Bonds who did not go through the castings those days, Why? No idea! They all had that "looking cool" but a bit dumb feel about them. If you are on vacation with kids this movie will be fun passing time indeed.
As I was a bit mislead myself I will clear this up and tell our readers that Manchester-by-the-sea is a real town on the north shore of Massachusetts. The uncle has to take care of his teenage nephew whose father passed away. It is a very powerful movie about the challenges one man faces struggling with his present and remembering the mistakes of his past. Trapped in guilt feelings and unable to deal with the present situation either the main character reflects the strong "no-sorry" feelings in the audience - we all can see hoe the man created the "situations" for himself. The main character, Lee Chandler was happily married with kids, was going out with his friends and his carrier as a celebrity sportsman was all in good shape when the tragedy took place. The "past Lee" and the "present Lee" are two different men. Casey Affleck , who plays Lee is so remarkably good for sometime you will start thinking he plays himself and his own life. There is a "before" and "after" man, he is the same body, he is not the same spirit. The present man is frozen inside and slowly we find out why. His past demons follow him everywhere but the film is more about the values of the family and what is important for many of us: why do we often neglect it and swap tie and energy to something less of value. The drama and humor in the film are blend very well together making it a remarkable masterpiece no cinema lover would miss to watch. The most significant episode when Lee and his ex-wife fabulously portrayed by Michelle Williams meet. This is when Lee realises that past is gone and it is never to return and more to that he has to learn how to look after his present having a disobeying young man on his hands, The film is warn and gentle; it finally gets us and we start to care about the main character, Lee and understand him deeply. If there are no Oscars for the film I would be very much surprised. All my thumbs up for writing and directing from Kenneth Lonergan and the whole crew!
ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY NEW website RATE: 8/10
Star WArs for us are just james bond movies - no matter you like it or not - we have to watch it as a matter of principal. This episode would not disappoint the lovers of the Star Wars - it is way much much better than the previous lousy made episode. Rogue One is what all fans would be looking for. there are more fights though and less science fiction compared to the very first movies which we personally (Alex and I) consider to be the masterpieces of sci-fi cinematography - and who would argue? We were waiting for this episode with thrill and impatience wanting it to be very good and it did not fail! All our fears vanished after the first 10 minutes when we released that they did not blow it up this time! It had everything the perfect movie of this genre should have and felt just right: good script of course, the right blend of action and fighting scenes plus drama spiced by sense of humor, then you add the common understanding and the sequence of events so the audience can follow the story easily without the downfalls, well shaped characters, digital effects - this episode was like the right piece of puzzle that fit just with perfection with all first , originally written stories. The director's work seem to be absolutely fabulous. We are definitely not the Dr Cooper Sheldon type of Star Wars fans - we are just the ordinary people who love good cinematography and I can praise every small details and every word said from the screen. The movie is also a good mixture of minor and major characters who are played equally well and we found the actors were all very suitable for their characters. One word: classical episode!
OMG! I read lots of maerial on this subject long time ago. I am not inetersted in it. It is not as exciting as it seems. now, after 50 years passed who cares what was done or not done by NASA, CIA or American government? Now, we do not care what happened 10 years ago forget about 50! Two egenerations passed, it is half of the century. Why do we watch the movie like that? Who can prove anything. People who lived there - they are dead or dying now... Who cares? We care about what is happening now and we are nt given the answers. If you love conspiracy you will adore this film and you will have something to discuss with your friends a day after, but what is then?.. Can you change the past? Can you change the present? Or may be the future?.. Plus the camera... I simply could watch the film for the first part only. The camera was shaking (I know thsi is a very special technic, I know!) but it was getting worse and worse. I closed my eyes: nothinghas changed = I still wanted to go to the bathroom and help myslef to vomit... I felt so sick from that camera! I "watched" the rest of the movie with my eyes closed. I got everything: it was the same movie with my eyes wide shut! If you care about your health and you vestibular system - please give it a miss!
What I liked Superb graphic! Unbelievable surroundings - I love very well set up spaceships and like how the advanced technology gets into the films first and then to our own lives. The film reminded me a bit of a Solaris by Tarkovski but the slight comparison vanished with a bit cheese set up and love story as well as somehow a primitive script and not that interesting (not engaging) characters,
This is my first time seeing Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt and I am far away from being impressed by their performances. Only IF... Only if the major was taken by Mia Wasikowska and say... even Ashton Kutcher I would say yes, it worked perfectly well, but the cast was not right for such film. They did not put a sense into their lines, nor there were even a slight glimpse of spirituality. I found the film failed only because of the poor cast that killed it.
Coming back to the positive side and the spaceship. Graphics, once again: breathless! I would see the film again only to capture more and more of that graphics. I was immensely impressed by the episode when the spaceship loses its gravity and goes g-force-less: suddenly the water splashes out from the huge swimming pool and keeps Aurora inside the rounded bubble without a sip of oxygen. I have no idea how it was filmed but it looked spectacular!
You will look at the poverty the Indian citizens live in you will forget all your hardship and trouble. I sincerely thought that Russians were poor, but the people in India are beyond any human understanding of this word.
The story line is simple and when told you might think: so what? The five year old boy gets lost in the streets of an Indian town and his adventures finding his home take him to the Australian shores where he gets adopted by a childless family. After 25 years he decides to find his lost family. Do not trust the trailer as it is made in the way that you can not understand if the film will be good or bad. I did not have any expectations going to see this film however I trusted that Dev Patel will not play in a bad movie and even a very ordinary film he will do in the best and most amazing way. the film with him is always a celebration.
Dev (as Saroo) is completely unrecognizable. I am always pleasantly surprised how he changes for particular character - yes, Alex and I we both like this fabulous actor.
The story and the script are so powerful you will follow each word and each episode and each movement of the actors with all your heart. The small Saroo played by a young Indian boy, Sunny Pawar who hardly spoke any English is absolutely stunning.
This film will be the best advertising of Google Earth program ever!
While watching the film you will have lots of thoughts: one will be prevailing though - animals on our planet are treated better than people: we spend millions of dollars on animal charities and there are lost, hungry and freezing people all over the earth in the streets with no roof above their heads. the film says: "In India, over 80,000 children go missing each year and there are over 11 million children living on the streets. For the release of this film, the foundation Lion Heart was launched in collaboration between the production companies of this film, See-Saw Films and The Weinstein Company (TWC) and The Charity Network. It will provide financial support to the over 11 million children who live on the streets of India"
It was also very interesting to observe Nicole playing a mother of adopted child - she has two adopted children in real life It was also a very interesting character for her: she played it well but Dev over-shined her performance. I also can totally see why Nicole has taken this role - it was nothing to her glamorous and unforgettable appearances in many films but this role was as important as many of the sparkling ones that she took before. the roles was small but nothing but spectacular.
The scene when Saroo returns home after 25 years of absence is absolutely epic. I was sure and then when I read about the filming I know that they were real people, the villagers who surrounded Saroo, there were no extras taken for this part of the movie. It is touching and is played through flawlessly.
The story is moving but shocking at the same time as there are so many parts of the world we do not know about. We have no idea how people live there, what they go through and how they earn money for food and water.
I believe this movie will turn many hearts upside down and the screens of Australia will see lots of tears while watching this film but I also see how moving and important this film will be for the Indian people in general.
The Music Of Strangers is a superbly done documentary about Yo Yo Ma, the famous viola player and his internationa musicians group that is called The Silk Road Project that talks about everything related to music and its reflection of our modern life. If I say the camera work was sensational I will say nothing: it captured the moemnts that last for seocnds so well one after another, one after another that I started thining that they filmed it for many many years to selct the episodes for superb and so suitable for the whole happy mood of this film. To be honest I have not seen a better documentary in years. Not only the camera caoruted the tresured moments of each very talented musician from The Silky Road Project but it also showed the personalities of all of fthem and how fabulous human beings they all are. they all have different cultural, religiuos and upbringing background but they have nothing to divide, they only have something great in common theur creativity and the beauty of their art: playing the music and composing the music. There are so many positive and insirational vibes you will get after watching this film. I also started thinking whom from my circle of musicians should I let know about these amazing group. There are four words that describe all the musicians following the silk road: Curiosity. Creativity. Generosity. Passion.. they are apolitical, but their music passes through a greater message than any poliitician will pronounce to unite peoples and nations. They change the world to be a better place not only by words but by actions. The music they perform is so vibrant and passionate you will want to wake up from yoru chair and dance. The most moving episode was the travellin of one of the musicians to the Lebanon refugee camp where the Sirian citizens hide and what messages they bring to the chindren who listen to the muscians with open hearts and eyes wide open. The oether amazing part was the Saint-Saens' "swan" break dance featuring Charles 'Lil' Riley. There is so much joy and hope in this movie that you will want to see it twice I bet for inspiration at least! If you are looking for something a little bit different to watch at the cinemas, check out this film definitely It is cool, inspiring and historical of course.
When you go to this film you should forget everything that you watched before. This is not a Hollywood cheesy film about love, life and death, not it is a very serious philosophical drama. It is very down to earth, very intelligently done and absolutely beautiful picture! If you thought Will Smith ill be lost like a planet among all these starry names around him you will be wrong - he pulls his (may be not Oscar but... close to it) performance. Howard (Will Smith) lives through a life tragedy of loosing his child to cancer. He removes himself from reality but he forgets that he runs a very successful advertising agency and he has three more partners in his business. Howard's withdrawal from company's activities has consequences and he is a step away from loosing all his partners. The decision is made by his partners (who are also his best friends) to get him back to life and to reconnect him with reality. They find out that he writes letters to Love, Time and Death and there is their one and only chance ! Why the film is called Collateral Beauty ? This is for you to find out the deep meaning of the message behind three Universal forces: Love, Death and Time! You will find lots of great messages too alone the way to "reconnection". the movie will stay with you for a long time to rethink and to find your own answers to questions. Sometimes to find the truth you have to face your own fears but you might see that the movie will have a completely different subjective meaning to you.
After I watched thhis film I thought, I can not rate it , it will be impossibe t rate something like this. It is way too sensitive, it is way too wrong to rate. But I decided to look at it from the artistic point of view. It is about the days of John Kennedy's wife, Jackie right after his assassination. You will not be able to hold your own grief feelings for this beautiful family and your own memories that will fill up the theater and will not let you breath. Sometimes it is simply impossible to watch... If there was a vote for the hardest to watch movie on earth that would be the one, heartbreaking. Sometimes your life turns into a theater , into an ugly drama and you can not find the place where to hide from it , then it is better to show people what they want to see to shut them up. they want to see you crying - let them drink your tears, you want to see you suffer - let them watch that and feel how good they are when they stay away from you. I went through this myself, I went through grief and through the world around you watching your every step , I felt what these people around me felt : some were close and compassionate, the true friends, some just wanted a piece of me for their own profit and some simply were happy about what I was going through, some were having a lack of my attention... I felt every minute of Jackie's sorrow... I asked God the same questions: "why?" I got some answers after watching this film: - sometimes there are no answers - sometimes you either have to choose death or accepting that there are no answers - sometimes the search ends with nothing and this is not the end... One last note: you will find Natalie Portman to be very unusual in this film -she takes it all on her self... she carries it on her shoulders and she is superb!..
It is a very well done movie. Hailee Steinfeld as Nadine and Woody Harrelson as Mr Bruner are superb nd their characters are very well shaped. I really loved Erwin portrayed by Hayden Szeto also. Nadine is a crazy teenager, she wants it all and she wants it now. She does not realise that thing are not as they seem to be, she also does not realise that she only sees things from one side: hers. Nadine thinks that her troubles all come from her brother; they grew different people since childhood: she envied his social skills and just could not stand him. Nothing she knew who her brothr was and how he protected their family and played the role of their father who passed away so unexpectedly when they were teeagers. When Nadine opens her eyes the realisation comes: the things get into their places and life gets organised by itself. This is called growth. Nadine turns from a stubbon child and selfish teenager into a beautiful butterfly: an adult who looks at the thing from many angles, who acts wise and ... better seen than told... Just adding the final here: Mr. Bruner rocks and ownes every episode as a teacher and not as a teacher too: just superb! If you do not like the rest of the film (which I doubt you will) the scenes with Mr Bruner are the best for LOL !!
There is a fantastc family movie to see together with your kids: it is sad , it is gentle and it is about many of us.the film is a sequel to the Red Dog (2011) film that we gave 10/10 stars. It tells a story about the beginning of Red Dog: how did that happen that he was alone and no-one's dog. The puzzel of the Red Dog childhood (or should I say: puppiness) is all completed now. the film is beautifully shot. I also found the roe of the boy who was the puppy's first owner nd who found him in the tree after the storm, was played well... It is a story about love and friendship, about broken hearts and disappointment, about kept promises and true bonds in life. Your kids will absolutely love the film and the adventures of its heroes!
Actually the place got packed later I came earlier I suppose
PATERSON NEW website RATE: 10/10 If there is one movie that I would like to watch again than this is PATERSON. Paterson is not a surname as I thought ; it is a small town in New Jersey . But is it a surname of the bus driver too who lives in Paterson - so yes, there are two Patersons. The bus driver's life is - how can I put it in a soft way:way - too boring, bus drivera are not boring, no, not becasue they are boring but becasue the work they do is pretty dull. This is themovie that will force you t olook at the bus drivers in a different way perhaps... I am not a fan of Adam Driver (who plays the bus driver BTW) but he IS superb in this character. It also looks like he enjoyed playing this character very much. There is poetry in Paterson's life, the driver's life, the city's life too. the poetry is not only expressed on paper, but it is expressed in the picture. Be prepared : the movies , hte best movies about poetry are always slow. It is charming slow though. Is Paterson lonely? Asolutely! All poets are (not sure about the drivers though): they are surrounded by people who tak on the bus. But let's go back t the poetry: if you know and love Richard Brautighan you wil understand me as this poetry is so close to Richard. It is simply genius. The poetry comes out from Paterson's pen effortlessly and naturally. He writes it like he talks to his friend: himself. He reads his poetry to his wife. She is full of surprises. Paterson is lonely in his love to her. He listens. I could not resist to think about another film while watching Paterson: Still Life - again a simple and quiet story with a complex underwater currents. There is one more thing: I will find the poetry of William Carlos Williams who lived in Patersn and was a famous poet. This IS the best role of Adam 100% , he handles it so well. As my husband and I are both poets I am taking him to this film t owatch again together after it is released in theaters! Beautiful film, it is a gem - go and see it!
The movie "Stray" has a perfect title, reflecting the main character's nature-Jennifer. The girl who is moving from place to place, struggling to belong and leaving sufferings and disasters behind. The girl, damaged by her childhood's events, is searching for her long gone mother and trying to escape her abusive father. There are no feelings or emotions, no fear in Jennifer. "It is others, who should be afraid of her" - is Jennifer's life statement. It is a disturbing movie to see a young person like this to move in life with total lack of comprehension what love, empathy and trust mean. There are other characters, who are also shown their emotional life wounds and the fact that the wounds are hard to heal and would always bleed. The end of the movie just proves that: in spite of her wondering around and removing all the barriers on the way, Jennifer never grows emotionally up and moreover chooses to stay immature and dependent by turning all the way backwards to where she began. Even though "Stray" portrays cold- blooded killings and there is a feel of disturbance for the most duration of it, it shows some light and hope too. It starts with some sunny and picturesque views of nature with its fields and animals, looking peacefully. While towards the end of the movie, a new hope arises for a better life through the image of a baby. I think Gabrielle Stone (Jennifer) is natural in her role. The film is done in quite appropriate, not fast, pace.
If you up to relaxing and watching something very down to earth and silly this is the film for you. If you warked too hard that you missed on entertainment entirely for the whole year, this will be your time to feel silly and stupid tofether with the novie characters. It is a veyr grounded and "extect this to ahppen" comedy that 88% of citizens like t owatch It can be a good background for your X-mas party, when you talk to your friend and suddenly see a naked back butt of the screen you can both LOL. Bu I can hardlly call this art nor I can call it comedy although sometimes it was hillarious but most of the time it was disgustngand vulgar. Sorry! We both also understand why such movies get released on screen just before X-mas. Let it be - there are consumers who will love this and we can see them even sitting in front of TV with beers, coke and sausages munching and having fun.
MADE IN MELBOURNE FILM FESTIVAL 2016: THE LEGEND OF BEN HALL NEW website RATE: 10/10
We have been waiting for the film screening forever! There were so many friends who were at the set involved in photography on site, filming and acting and so many stories we were told about he BTS we simply could not wait anymore. Matthew Holmes, the director went through lots of ups and downs creating this incredible movie. He put his heart into it. I watched a couple of BTS when he told the story about the hats that the crew was wearing and how he made them - I was stunned about the attention to detail he put into his creation. I thought: this is what makes the movie so real, so natural and so sensationally attractive. You go back in time and you find everything as it was: people and they thought and acted, surroundings and the way of life, actually part of this way. This is the story: Ben has been on the road for two years and he wants to surrender to the law when he suddenly meets his old mate from the gang: John Gilbert who easily draws him back to bushranging and robbing innocent and rich. Ben is now the most wanted man by the British Empire. The gang soon grows to three people and their deeds create a wave of protest from citizens. they are declared outlaws which means they can be killed by anyone from the crowd.. The gang feeling this is the end of their journey plans to run overseas but still they need to collect extra money for the trip. Ben does not suspect that one of his best friends (who hides the gang's money) to avoid troubles for his own family becomes a police informant. Ben gets into the trap like a mouse. People kill then they pay tributes to the brave. Is there bravery in robbing unarmed? Is the 30 bullets a good punishment though? What is fair and what is not? What can be considered a lawful revenge and what not? The story raises so many questions and the list of them does not end. It looks like this the film is a perfect and 100% candidate for our BEST OMVIE OF THE MONTH. It is one more incredible classic on your shelves of "Australian History". We could not held to compare the movie with "Australia" the film that featured so many celebrities and was so well advertised. This will come and go and will be forgotten. Why? there is no word of truth in that movie. Despite that "Ben Hall" is the best example of your films that you will want to watch year after year and it will only get better with time as the old good wine. The actors certainly deserve a separate paragraph to be mentioned about. The physical appearance of Jack Martin (Ben Hall) and Jamie Coffa (John Gilbert) that copies in small details the major characters of the movie is amazing! The major cast is spot on! The rest of the cast is also fabulous and all the characters are nailed so right, clear and authentic! Well, we have to admit the 7 years Matthew spent on this film were not spent in vain. The opening night turned to be a full house at the large ACMI theater with people sitting on the side stairs - I have not witnessed anything like that since Lord Of The Rings part 4 advance screening at Crown where I went with kids. Sold out - and stairs as well. There is also good to mention here that the film is not only a biography of the incredible personality but also part of the Australian history that we, living in this land should carry on our shoulders and know more about. There is a duble praise for Matthew not only entertaining his audience but educating certainly. Little we knoew and still know about Ben Hall and the times he had his adventures but this "Astralian WEstern" will open the eyes of many. Will we spend now more time reading , researching and investgating about uor ancestors? I trust many of us will - al least let's read what google offers forget about the dusty documents in archives... and of course for many: let's forget online games and ebay - there is so much more to life! I only have to add that nature and the scenery was also captured in the best possible way - there are so many beautiful places in our country and in Victoria in particular - seems thet they are all in this film! We certanly would like to take this opportunity and thank Matthew for his brilliant job putting this picture together, On our way home from the movie Alex said: if there were so many Oskars I would give them all to this film on so many levels. May be we should weld our own Oscars but I am sure this film will be at least noticed as the best foreign film and awarded what it deserves - 10 out of 10 stars from us but we would also give it 100 stars. BEST AUSTRAIAN WESTERN? - for sure!
I am not a great fan of Ryan Gosling (I also think for this film he was a miscast) but adore wuh all my heart Emma Stone's inspiring talent in acting. Whatever she touches brings so much life - so did the movie shined with her energy. With man in cinematography I have just noticed a remarkable change (not to the better though) of acting: this relates to Ryan Gosling's character in La La Land as well as Brad Pitt's character in Allied. They play as they do not care perhaps giving the way to their female partners perhaps there is a new fashion in Hollywood but it does not work well. There is a missing warmth in such approach as well as it is hard to engage with such characer's manners for the audience. Mia is a young aspiring but struggling actress who works at the coffee shop that serves actors at breaks between filming, Sebastian is a supertalanted pianis who plays at restaurants and at the gigs where his skills are not noticed. The story is simple: when they struggle to reach a mountain of success but instead falling down on each corner of their lives they meet each other and fall in love. Love brings them more than jst inspiration to reach that mountain but it also brings the challanges that are impossible to avoid as well as change the destiny. The musical is superb, music coes so naturaly that we think it is simply part of the plan in real life: this is what we all have to do when we feel we can not keep quiet: sing and dance. One thing I have to say: it is entertaining (in both movies and life). Whenever you are angry at your husband in the kitchen - start singing and if you feel upset at the supermarket - do the same or start tap dancing! The reality and fantasy in the movie go hand in hand, the bland of music, conversation and dancing is perfectly balanced. My favourite part of the move: Mia's auditions at the various studios. I can only regretably see that this film will be struggling to find its devoted fans as musicials are not in big fashion now, at the age of action blockbusters.
It is a daring game to play indeed! The long time friends meet for dinner. There is nothing unusual and the conversation is getting boring and loosing its flavour. We only can notice that out of this 7 people gathered at one table (3 couples and one guy who never brings over his partner) , we only notice that one couple is very unhappy. Before attending the dinner they hide their strange and hidden from each activity who knows where: in the bathroom or behind the bedroom doors. Nevertheless our expectations reveal that not only one couple is suffering from lies and infidelity. The very strange game starts at the table in the middle of the dinner just before the desert is served/ They all put their phones on the table openly and will reveal the information from every email, message, text and phone call that is coming through. They will share the nature of the text and the message and explain it in front of everyone. This is when the fun begins and the doors start to slam. To be honest I have not laughed like this fro a long time... They now all know about each other in less than an hour. And when all the cards are open and there is nothing else to say.... the ending will shock you even more... Be prepared to some serious laughs and some very funny drama. Pointless to say the actors are ALL superb. I found only two familiar faces: Giuseppe Battiston (as Peppe) and Alba Rohrwacher (as Bianca) but the rest of the crew is also very appealing and as I mentioned portray their characters immaculately well. My score is 10 and Alex's is 9
The film 'Dancer' captures an exclusive look behind the scenes of the life of famous ballet dancer Sergei Polunin.
In a documentary style the audience is taken on a journey through his childhood years.
One of the main elements explored throughout the film is the involvement of his family throughout his training and career. It was so heartbreaking to hear about the struggles his family endured to get him the best education they could. It shows how his parents and grandparents were all separated in a bid to earn separate incomes in order to fund the opportunities he was given.
The behind the scenes look as a family is inspiring yet sad at the same time because whilst you see Sergei in his prime performing the audience learn a secret about the shocking effect money had on his family and them being able to enjoy his success.
The journey Sergei takes from child prodigy to famous performer is explored thoroughly. There are interviews throughout the film with friends, family and colleagues from his journey including Sergei himself.
I would recommend this film for anyone who has had a dream to be the best version of themselves. it is also a film that makes you question your own morals and happiness as did Sergei in the past couple years of his career. It really captures the highs and lows of a career in the ballet industry.
If you are expecting a documentary like any other you will be refreshingly surprised. It will make you think for sure.
UNDERWORLD BLOOD WARS website review by Bryanna Reynolds
If you are looking for your next vampire horror obsession, this one is for you!
'Bloodwars' is the 5th instalment in the Underworld franchise and it did not disappoint.
You may be wondering, does this mean I have to watch all the films to be able to understand what is going on? I have not seen any of the films in the franchise series and 'Bloodwars' absolutely blew my mind. I only wish I had discovered it sooner. Imagine a film that is a combination of Twilight, Harry Potter and Fifty Shades of Grey with a touch of Tim Burton ish overall feeling. It is definitely on the darker side of the spectrum when it comes to action, violence and gore. Did I mention the series is about covens of different vampires?
One of the things about the film that really blew me away was the covens style and the look of the film as a whole. Each coven had a specific dress sense and style of fashion. It made it extremely easy to tell who was a part of what coven. There was a lot of black throughout the film and it is stunningly powerful.
All the characters were so strong and relatable but at the same time you had to pinch yourself and remember that they were fiction (sad face).
If you are looking to sit down and get lost in an alternate universe where fantasy meets fiction than this film is for you.
I cannot wait to watch the previous films that have been released in the franchise. Do yourself a favour and make sure you check it out on the big screen at the cinema, you won't regret it.
MONSIEUR MAYONNAISE website review by Mahsan Ahmadi
It was so great to watch a documentary movie; the kind I've never experienced before. It just drawn my mind to imagine what's Europe like now in comparison to 40s and 50s. The man who was talking about his primogenitors has done a very astonishing job during making that documentary. He has illustrated all his imagination of his ancestors in picture of very funny modern childish paintings. By means of those paintings, you get into his family story. Furthermore, he was traveling beyond the Europe, to see where his dad bought baguette or which restaurant has sandwich with pile of mayonnaise. That was so interesting to see the ancients' life style, the way of cooking and the designs. They all gave me a very broad perspective of passed life; especially about the times of second world war. If you like something unusual with historical and biography twist this is the film for you!
JAPANESE FILM FESTIVAL 2016 CLOSING NIGHT SELECTION: THE LONG EXCUSE 永い言い訳 website review by Jeanette Russell
Thank you for the opportunity to review this film from Miwa Nishikawa who wrote and directed it. It was a treat to see it at the Japanese film festival with a great atmosphere, and interviews with Miwa and the lead actor Masahiro Motoki at the film's end. They story is intriguing, based on Masahiro's character Sachio who loses his wife in a coach accident. His wife ( Natsuko ) was on her way to a holiday destination with her best friend (Yuki ) who was also married. The two widowers are substantially different in expressing their grief over losing their partners. Sachio who it seems was not committed to his marriage, does not even cry or express sadness when he receives the news of his wife's death. He had a mistress who he was with as soon as Natsuko left for the trip. Yuki's husband ( Yoichi ) however is poles apart from Sachio . Yoichi is visibly heartbroken, and in the grips of deep despair, over the loss of his wife. The two widowers meet up. Sachio had no children, but Yoichi has two. A twist and surprising event is that Sachio offers to look after the children for Yoichi while he is on the road driving, for his job. Often portrayed as very insensitive and self serving , we see a much softer humane side of Sachio as he cares for the children. It is moving to view his personal growth, while he is connecting and engaging with Yoichi's children. A film of contrasts parallels and human's raw emotions, I found it fascinating to observe the journey's of these two men. Yoichi's children Shinpei ( his son at late primary school ) and daughter Akari ( who is at preschool )in the story, are delightful. The actors mostly newcomers to acting did a wonderful job of portraying these characters very realistically and genuinely in pain, grieving and suffering over the losses of their mother's and wive's. Personally I found that the movie to spark my curiousity. To me it was stirring and definitely held my attention. For my score I would like to give the film 4 out of 5. A very enjoyable and interesting evening. Following the movie was an insightful chat with Miwa Nishikawa and Masahiro Motoki . We had the Q and A interpreted for us, into English as the interviewees spoke Japanese. Miwa informed us that the idea of the story came to her as a result of the aftermath of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami which claimed about 16,000 lives. Her writing depicts the difficulties and mourning of survivors after losses of loved ones. She wanted to portray the suffering and the challenges of carrying on after the deaths of significant others. Another aspect to her script at the time was an inclusion of losing someone but the feelings that come with not parting well. A theme also for Nishikawa was that anything or anyone can just suddenly perish from existence. She also wanted to convey that humans often have to cope with death and parting. The main character was strong and narcissistic. He was also painted as a bit twisted and a man who couldn't express emotion easily at all. Miwa felt there can be elements of this in her own personality. Masahiro Motoki who played Sachio said in his Q and A that he finds that he can relate to Sachio as well. Nishikawa spoke about wanting to put across how the two men are different but can interact. She wanted to display their relationship with each other, and the children. Really enjoyed the movie and I found the Q and A session very informative as well as intuitive. A great final film for the Japanese Film Festival 2016 . (Melbourne)
MONSTER FILM FESTIVAL 2016: RAW website review by Mahsan Ahmadi
As far as my mind helps, all blood comes to my mind. This was the most horrible movie I've ever watched in my life. At the very beginning of the film, I presumed the story would twist interestingly. As the plot develops and further time went, the more disgusting scenes came up on surface. There were as much as unpleasant episodes and sound you can imagine were included on Raw movie. To me, I rarely can consider it as a horror movie, but just call it a rubbish. In comparison to horror, it had nothing to make audience scared or give them a bit of heart beating rather than vomiting. Those obnoxious scenes just gave me unpleasant feeling of hostility. If there is only a movie in the world NOT to recommend any one to watch, that would be the "RAW" . What kind of people seat and see a girl having sex with a corpse in a morgue! 2 sisters bite each other's necks to get blood! Who enjoys seeing a cut tongue in a boy's mouth because of a french kiss by a girl?! Who appreciates the moment watching a sister eating her sister's cut off finger !> I imagine that would be only very sicj people. This kind of move has never been my cup of tea, but as a change in my taste I just wanted to give it a go! As a result, I'm just more than before determined to my taste and choice not to see this kind of movies ever again! It just ruined my couple of days; specially that night when I was leaving the cinema by vomiting when 2 sisters starting to suck each others' blood and kiss and... by those disgusting noises!
I simply do not understand what people can learn from such films? They are not event entertaining! I have to admit I experienced soe very unpleasant moments that night in the cinema! My recommendation: don't go and see this!
MONSTER FILM FESTIVAL 2016: THE GREASY STRANGLER website review by Mahsan Ahmadi
To be honest I was expecting to watch a bit different movie at the closing night of Monster Film Fest to watch . It was not only a very shallow movie, but also was total rubbish. I also understand that the genre of horror has some consequenses: there should be horrors. But I also believe that there are well done "horror" and very poorly done "horror". To add to that when people come to see a movie (which is art I believe) it means that they are expecting at least some enjoyable moments which can be produced by certain feelings when you reflect on the film: excitement, fear, love or learning something from that movie. I am just wondering to know what was the aim of the director and writer of "Greasy Strangler"? I personally see it as quite feeble, aimless, shallow and mediocre movie with minimal sets and casts. There are outdated clothing and costumes or mostly naked, wooden dialogues made that atrocious shallow movie. I simply do not have enough words of disappointment. It wasn't absolutely clear what was the aim! A father cheating on his son!? Oh! God! Unbelievable! In my opinion, it was just pretty unconvincing also, poorly directed, poorly filmed etc etc and I don't know why I watched it all the way through . I simply should have walked out! It was utter rubbish!
This movie is a live travel to the past - the experience so powerful and so well played - you can only imagine. Made in 1925 its history is incredible as well as the picture itself: "Because the film was produced in Germany, it was not made with the intent to pass the newly established MPPDA's "Hays Code" which had been introduced the year before with hopes of mollifying the more than 100 local and state censorship boards around the United States. These boards quickly took an ax to the film, cutting, on average, enough footage to fill two film reels. New York made the fewest cuts, removing slightly less than one reel of footage." If you ever had a chance to see and fall in love with the silent movies this is a gem for your collection. If you know nothing about this era - take a ride and watch this film for total enjoyment. Some silent movies as a famous singer sang: are so full of sound. The actors perform with an splendid dedication, their emotions are raw and sometimes seemingly naive but I guess this s how people were at this time: sincere and like open books. I was a bit annoyed about the repetitive music but I believe it created an atmosphere of strong emotions to reflect the feelings of the main cast. The restoration process on the film that took place in 2015 allowed to add 30 minutes to the originally released film with quite revealing Variete scenes. You will guess what they were when you see the picture. When you watch the film try not to compare it with anything you saw so far: just open your mind and deep inside the age of 20-s and 30-s bohemian world: love, jealousy, lust and revenge - it is all there in the most genuine form. Please note that this film was officially selected by the Australian critics for the closing night of the German Film Festival 2016.
I loved every moment of this film. Sometimes life and love take such strange turns and shapes! I also was very impressed by the whole crew of actors: I could not understand where have they all learnt how to look after the sheep , how to collect wool and how to manage the large farm? Were they real actors who all had learnt these skills or they are some local New Zealand farmers who are terrific in acting? That was a real puzzle for me. I loved the sound of the language spoken, I loved to watch the traditions of the tribe followed and just to look at those beautiful people was a great experience. I adored the "at the table scenes" and how the whole family was behaving; the union dynamic was splendid -:like an entity , like a whole and balanced beehive: full of honey collecting bees they all knew their places, they all work and support each other... But suddenly that well built structure have come to an end with the array of events that disturbed the union. The times came when the truth of the past came out... the key to open the unknown doors was a young teenage boy , also an intelligent and outspoken part of the Mahana family. It is also a very emotional film so be prepared to survive some "tissue moments"
This is an incredible film story-wise. I did knew nothing about this time of history when Botswana , South Africa and the countries in surrounding region had the most difficult times. I can also see some people who will favor such movies and some who will hate them. A United Kingdom is a very smart title. When I went to see the film I though t it was about Great Britain, and no it is not. It is a Kingdom of Borswana and its kings. One of them a young black and well educated Seretse falls in love with a lovely British woman, Ruth. The true story of their hardship and love is accompanied by real live photography of real people. The story requires a standing ovation as their strong spirit and gentle intention together with their will to help Botswana people helped them to survive and fight for their love and for being together no matter what their families said, no matter what their political advisers said no matter that were very close to die for their believes .Both main actors are sensation to say the least. No, it is not an ordinary love story, no they play the individuals who usually stand out from the crowd (may be that's why they are the chosen kings and queens). If you go and see the film you will find it political but at the same time it is more like a look from the inside out on the political life in both Botswana and Great Britain as a separate countries and about their political affairs in diplomatic relationship between two. Khama is a family that created a generations of intelligent rulers who not only defended the rights of their people but keep the country as one, never dividing it in small kingdoms. I believe our governors will have a long way to learn from the best in history. When I watched the film I could not resist to think that the kings can not marry for love... but apparetnly I was wrong.
GERMAN FILM FESTIVAL: SUPERWORLD website review by Nadia Pleshkova
In the drama film "Superworld", an ordinary woman Gabi (Ulrike Beimpold) starts wondering of the meaning and purpose of life, of her whole existence and if it matters to God or anyone. Every day life's routine of getting up for work, cooking, washing, taking care of kids, husband and the house finally takes it's toll for Gabi. She now believes she is being followed... by a voice of God. The voice that asks lots of questions. Listening to it Gabi dares to do something that makes the family feel embarrassed and the small town's community, she lives in, gossip. She dares to do something for herself only to realize that nobody cares where she goes and what she does, for whom and for what but mainly that she cannot be happy. We follow Gabi on her emotional search for superworld finding out that she makes a full turn in her heart of leaving and returning home only, without any doubts, to a new inevitable change. Ulrike Beimpold looks so convincing and carries the whole movie practically herself. The film pictures magnificent views of corn fields and sunny, almost perfect weather, which have a warming and enjoyable effect on the spectator.
GERMAN FILM FESTIVAL: NOWITZKI: THE PERFECT SHOT website review by Jessica-Lee Murphy.
Nowitzki: The Perfect Shot: Movie review by Jessica-Lee Murphy.
A German masterpiece set in hustle and bustle of America. When I began watching this movie, I didn’t know what to expect. I was preparing myself for subtitles and German actors, but I was pleasantly surprised in the first few minutes’ right to the end.
What’s the movie all about? It’s about an interesting roller coaster of the life story of Dallas Mavericks stalwart Dirk Nowitzki. This young legend spanned a 17-year career in the NBA and the movie gives an authentic account of the mixture of joys and sorrows it take anyone to achieve success in their field. For me one of the take home lessons of this movie was that success does not come easy. But once there, we are there to enjoy every moment whilst it lasts!
The documentary is very personal and contains genuine and authentic details of Nowitzki and his winning team! The film (distributed by Magnolia Pictures, whose co-owner Mark Cuban also owns the Mavericks and contains personal information about the player, that other filmmakers wouldn’t have been so privileged to receive.
Starting as a skinny, insecure teenager struggling to express himself, the movies depicts the challenges Dirk Nowitzki went through to become one of the league's great stars. So determined to get through the tough times that eventually led to his team winning a championship.
What did I think? Amazing. This is just another display of film craftsmanship what shows how German films have dramatically improved in the last decade. The German movie industry has improved like a good wine. Once upon a time like a sour grape, the German directors and producers are now up there with the best of them….
This documentary took me through the rainbow of our emotions. There were the lows, the highs, and the exiting climax of winning a major championship. This documentary certainly will not disappoint!
MIDDLE SCHOOL: THE WORST YEARS OF MY LIFE website RATE: 6/10 Rafe Katchadorian is quiet and very imaginative teenager who starts a new school. He is an excellent drawer, his characters turn into cool and funny movies cartoons in a blink of an eye. Rafe is a dreamer also. He can not take his new school's rigid and silly rules that are invented by a principle who is way too manipulative to achieve his own goals. Will Rafe and his friends win the battle and free the school from those who deprive their right for freedom and creativity? Probably yes if he acts the right way. It is also so great to have his mom and his sister on his side. His truth is his power. he also has an unusual friend on his side: the ghost of his brother who passed away recently from cancer. But apart from helpers there are enemies of course: his mom's new boyfriend is one of them. What I loved about this film: the gorgeous anime that gets alive when Rafe wants his heroes to jump out from his album right on the streets or on the school yard. The idea is very simple: the boy and his not so loving teachers. enemies at school and his dreams. I loved the way the old ideas were presented through an extraordinary cartoons - the best part of the film I believe! I also trust the teenagers will adore this film: who does not have a teacher that hates all the pupils in the class? Who does not want to get rid of him?
GERMAN FILM FESTIVAL 2016: EMERALD GREEN website RATE:5/10
If you have teenage kids this is the film for them to watch and enjoy: it has time travelling, romance, challenges, friendship, evil and gentle, witches and wizards, fights and peaceful life - it has everything the teenage kids love so much. Please be aware though that Emerald Green is the third part of already released two movies. Some of the characters' behavior and episodes assume you saw two first parts and your know exactly what is going on. I recommend to watch the first two films before attending the third one in order not to break the logic. IMHO, the film was a bit too pretentious t be believable. It is not Harry Potter, nor it is Lord Of The Rings where everything seems so real and so fantastically true you feel and know it all happened once somewhere somewhat. This is not the case with this film although I can also see the right audience for it.
GERMAN FILM FESTIVAL 2016: FUKUSHIMA, MON AMOUR SECOND BEST MOVE OF THE MONTH website RATE: 10/10
I will start my review with a small haiku that I have written after watching this film: wind moon tea and me fukushima mon amore sweet kitty sweet dreams I fell in love with the movie the same way I fell in love last year watching lats year Japanese Festival movies via links: Little Forest: Summer/Autumn (2014)and Little Forest: Winter/Spring (2015) I truly believe the German film director, Doris Dörrie of Fukushima understood the Japanese culture in its true core. I have only one word for her art work: magnificent. The subject of her investigation is very complex and heartbreaking: the earthquake of 2011 in the region of Fukushima, Japan. We follow the journey of a young German girl whose wedding ceremony just fell through back in her country. She leaves everything behind and goes on a mission together with a group of circus artists to t he Fukushima: she doe snot know the aim of her trip, she runs away from reality , basically running away from herself, she lost everything there, behind her: her love due to one stupid mistake that should not have taken place anyway. Marie is her name. While on her mission to assist the Japanese people, the survivors who occupied a small refuge camp close to the place where the tragedy took place she bonds with an elderly geisha, Satomi, a woman with not very sweet character. The title is a reference to Alain Resnais's Hiroshima Mon Amour (1959) which also deals with the trauma of a nuclear catastrophe, namely the Hiroshima bombing. After reading my small poem as an introduction you might start asking questions: why wind moon and tea? Some objects and events like in Japanese poetry hokku or haiku play a significant role in the movie which seemed to e like a small poem or like a dream itself. There are reasons of each meeting , of each encounter in the movie, like in the poem each word has its place, the movie build the painting one piece of the puzzle after another opening the envelope with the message of truth. The film is in black and white. There is not one tragedy inside the envelope: there are many. You can see in from one old woman perspective: the whole world is opening in front of you. It is mysterious, it is sad, it is colorful, it is covered with dust like a bunch of old photographs found under the ruins of the house. I want to say so much about his film and I will only say a little: the lives of two women after they met each other will be changed forever. they are like small islands of surviving for each other: they heal each other: their first meeting is bitter, their days together under one roof are the days of discoveries and learning about thy-selves and their last meeting is sad. Maria will leave the Fukushima understanding that her mission is that seemed impossible to complete is fulfilled now. Her heart is rejuvenated and rewind like a new clock. Why kitty and why dreams? I can not answer all your questions - you know. You HAVE to go and see this film for yourself to find out. SUPERB! I want to see it again and again! "Only the cup and you - nothing else!"
GERMAN FILM FESTIVAL: ORIGINAL BLISS website review by Jennifer Zaman
Original Bliss 6/10 The movie is shrouded in layers of complex emotions. A god-loving woman Helene suffers from chronic insomnia and struggles to lead a life of normalcy. Her already disturbed life is further agonised by the indifference of her husband. In the quest to find answers to her troubled mind, she begins reading a book authored by Mr. Eduard Glukk, in which the author interprets religion in a way that fascinates Helene's thoughts. It's after reading the book that she sleeps soundly after ages. Helene goes all the way to secure an interview with Mr. Glukk with her questions about religion. Until then, Helene assumed that her sleeplessness is an attribution of her loss of God. However, meeting Glukk introduced to her an utterly new self; which she could never conceive about. The story churns out an unexpected twist and Helene feels herself getting attracted to the sex-addict author. In a bid to cure her own issues, she finds herself helping out Glukk curing his. A few confusing turns later, Helene, at last, finds solace in the arms of Eduard Glukk. The story-telling lacks substance and logic and certain parts of the movie demands a little more explanation. The climax is questionable in terms of the description of the protagonist projected at the beginning of the story. Overall, the movie lacks reasoning and screams out for good editing.
When the pensioner Arthur is faced with the bitter truth that his funds will be cancelled due to the bankruptcy of the super fund that was supporting his superannuation income he (perhaps) has only one solution that I personally believe many pensioners will back up: these days: he and his wife, Martha decide to rob the bank. As you know the thread is only this long and can not run forever so do the crimes: sooner or later they all get uncovered.... but... not with only one but with many "buts": what if the police officers are helping you out? what if your friends are supporting your criminal actions? .. what if the detective is stupid?... the questions list can go on and on as it grows so do the funnier and the funnier the movie become. The cast is absolutely superb, the story line seem a bit uneven especially at the end but t gets you where you want it to be! Full stop: cool entertainment with the good and sincere message behind it. One of the best comedies I saw recently on the screen. I loved it and if you have an older parents please take them with you to watch this film: they will totally enjoy it!
If i we were told the move is based on real events we would not believe a word if this "promise". If we were told it is not based on the real events we would say: why bother doing something that is not? There is one, no,actually four words that we left the theater with and as Stanislavski said :I don't believe it! It seemed the movie was made without the much attention to details, without thinking of possibilities, just perhaps hoping that the viewer will be not smart enough to guess that he is given something faulty. Both Brad and Marion are good but one could notice Brad was acting as he was told without thinking and perhaps he did not even enjoy this character. The character seemed a bit small and uninteresting for him plus we never bought the part when when the spies are behaving this way: throwing the chairs around in front of their authorities, no we bought the fact that the husband was assigned to execute his wife. It is never ever done like this in the secret service Add to this the other small details they did not "glue" together right way and oh no... the whole movie looks to you as a big goofy farce (=masquerade) It seemed entertaining and sentimental in some parts but we could not get rid of the thought that it was all made up and everything seemed more like a try-hard-butaforia rather than a genuine picture. I personally respect Brad for his many roles in beautiful films with a great story lines and sensational directing. Recommendation for Brad: not to accept the poor director's work anymore and get the movies that can bring him Oscars not scars. But I know for sure many people will enjoy the film because of the romance. We loved the media screening presentation with the cascading champagne and jazz music at such a lovely location as Crown Melbourne - it was magnificent and expressing our big thank yous to the marketing team!
If you like romantic comedies this is the movie that you will like too! If you like Amelie adventures then this is the film you will adore! It consists of three parts: each part describes one person, one main character. The movie starts with describing a simple family: the son leave in the apartment downstairs, his mom lives in the apartment upstairs. He is not married although he is seeing someone, but the relationship seem very weak. His mom controls his life to the extend that he, Vincent Machot gave up and he does not notice that anymore. One day the accident brings him to the grocery shop where he purchase crabs, the owner serves him at the check-out ; she is a middle age woman , Rosalue Blum; her appearance seem so familiar to Vincent he can not understand why but he starts following her, sneaking here and there: he follows her to her house, to the bar where she relaxes after work, to the church where she sings etc, etc. He seem so strange to us, the viewers of the film we are intrigued and we can never guess why is he doing that. The events develop to the extend and to he situation when the chase is impossible to Vincent and his view of live. Without giving it away I will only tell you: he is shocked and he does not know what to do. The third part is about a young girl. Her name is Aude. She lives in the warehouse together with the street circus performer. Her place is covered by what is left after the animals when they want to use the nature to get rid of the waste in their stomach, she has two female friends. They are young, and full of humor, ideas and energy. Aude is the niece of Rosalie Blum. Her sudden involvement in the story of Vincent chasing her aunt is unavoidable (as per the script of this film!) The more she gets involved the more complex the situation is developing. It grown to the extent when her involvement with the "chase" and mystery is also has to end. If I intrigued you enough you are about to hear the rest of the story. The third and the last part is about Rosalie and her life. This part is called Rosalie. It is sad. She is sad. She is lonely too. But we would like to find out why Vincent is following her at every corner of the city and what she is hiding. We also are about to find out why is she so sad but still full of life, funny ideas and energy too. What is connecting all three people? Why would they meet? What is the reason? The film is light, very rich in the sets for each episode of it. It has a dog that looks like a lion, it has crocodiles, a live lamb and lots of very unusual people. This us mystery - the clue is given only at the very end. It is not given here, in my review. The films Amelie-nian story will bewitch you in you like mysterious stories and puzzles, if you like romantic life and if you like happy ending. It seems unreal in many parts but sometimes your own life seems unreal to you, does not it? I totally loved the movie for its unsaid part that you can imagine, for many hidden messages, for its lightness and for its depth at the same time! It reminded me of the fan of the Asian woman that can tell you a whole story just by small movements...
GERMAN FILM FESTIVAL 2016: MY BUDDHA IS PUNK website review by Jeanette Russel
Thank you for the opportunity to review this film. The writer, director. producer and cinematographer for this documentary is Andreas Hartmann. Impressed by the film, I felt it to be enlightening, engaging and compelling. The scenery struck me as colourful, and it depicted countryside and city , as well as outlying areas within Myanmar. Kyaw Kyaw is the main character, a young man in the grips of developing a Punk scene in his home land. His mission with his Punk Band ( Rebel Riot ) and working in his community group of "Punks" he calls "Common Street", is to raise awareness of violation of human rights. Along with his company he demonstrates, plays music, and promotes his cause often travelling through the country to put their word out. Kyaw Kyaw's troop has it's own brand that takes some ideals of Buddhism, and throws Punk in the mix. The members fight for the right of personal autonomy, and the importance of freedom, to make choices. They reject political doctrine and religious rules. A magazine was published by the group to express their beliefs. The guys are against the civil war and the targeting of ethnic minorities. Told through the eyes of Kyaw Kyaw, the viewer gets to see the inner workings of the community. I found it to be a story of bravery, individuality, community, personal struggles, as well as a great sense of camaraderie. The doco to me gave a lot of insight into the world of these Punks, who were mainly young men. It was really thought provoking, entertaining and engrossing, I thought. 4 out of 5 is the score I would like to give the film.
Our children are US. We say that the parents and only parents shape their world. Of course there are other influences but parent's word is the strongest and the most powerful. The weight it carries prevails any outsider's opinion no matter how truthful it is. The family truth is the most powerful too. Your reality is sculptured based on your parents' words and actions. Your world gets confused if your parent's word does not match his/her action. The ideal world would be the one where our children assist us in seeing the reality in better light, it would be perfect if we could open our ears and listen to them and learn from them to be lighter, more positive and be in that natural state of mind when we were just born - innocent... We loose on our way; our children make us look at the things in the more honest ways and open our eyes, not only our ears. Unfortunately the material world forces us to be formed in the way where money go before the friendship and good relationship; in reality money define everything. Even who is can be our friend and who can not. Our kids when get open to certain circumstances where money prevail get confused. The do not understand the world anymore. Teenagers are the most fragile. this is the age where the knowledge of the world's basics is received and they feel that they are adults but they are not. The Little Men drama is about two teenage boys worlds: they follow their dreams, they learn, they fall in love. they get rejected, they friend and unfriend, they are full of energy and talents, As their parents get into the argument about money, the boys still try to maintain the friendship; they even maintain silence with their parents in protest to the unusual situation but the circumstances are obviously more powerful and so are their parents. The friendship ends. The movie is very delicate. I loved both characters so beautifully played by the boys - they deserve a standing ovation for their acting. Simply natural, brilliant and honest! Sometimes I think our children play better than us. Our relationship are so miraculous and so fragile even a little comment can brake them forever. One word: cherish while the relationship are there; it is easy to destroy rather then build but what is already built can be destroyed within one day. One word: gorgeous movie!
DOCTOR STRANGE website RATE: 7/5/10 Dear Mr (Dr) Cumberbatch, please (this is a petition from Alex and myself) please please we love you in so many roles: Sherlock being the best (but not the The Abominable Bride of course), The Imitation Game where you were sensational and many others: YOU ARE NOT A SUPERHERO! You simply are not suited for those roles no matter how they try to drag you into them. You are losing your beauty of being an exceptional actor in extraordinary films. Doctor Strange has nothing to do with what everyone talks about this film is: it is not about astral projection, nor it is about the great ideas that seem so fake in this film. It looks like the script writer had a very vague idea about the "magical" things he wants his characters to talk about. I feel ashamed that such great bunch of actors agreed to pronounce these stupid words, juggling them like a cheap magician in front of an ignorant audience. Alex and myself wanted t give this film 4/10 but gave it a higher mark only because of the actors, but not even because that they were suitable for these roles but only because they have names and people will go watch this cr*p only because of the cast without understanding what astral means (the way doctor gets into this state is LO to be honest!), what travelling means and what else Doctor Strange learned in Nepal. The make-up of some actors is ridiculous the extend that we both LOL. But wait!.. How does Dr Strange uses his superpowers after he is full of wisdom and he heals himself? You know, his surname tells you all: STRANGELY and artificially stupid. No wizard and no witch will believe this picture to an inch! I also feel sorry for the teenagers who will become disoriented and fooled and even more ignorant as the film will not teach them anything they did not know before: fighting like in computer games and .... well, there is nothing else there! The image of a superhero made B. Cumberbatch look strange and awful - he could not handle the role and I believe the actor needs to change his agent and to start getting more intelligent roles. My recommendation give it a miss unless you like Dr Cumberbatch so much you feel you will not miss it... as we did!
FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM BEST MOVIE OF THE MONTH website RATE: 10/10
When you go to see the movie and someone tells you : "this is the next chapter of Harry Potter", you start thinking: oh, no, not again! not another James-Bond-/Star-Wars- Sherlock-Holmes- Indiana-Jones- -next-movie-failure.It doe snot work this way really - they try too hard but it doe snot work. You feel skeptical but curious.. but wait! The Fantastic Beasts are going to blow your mind away! The adventures will take you to the world you never thought could be made in such way on the screen... but not only the graphics is amazing: it is the story line that is fresh, intelligent and so Breathtaking! You will have no minute of doubt these creature live next t us - it is so real! Please note that this film is not a sequel nor it is prequel of Harry Potter. It is not like an expansion (or extension) on the world of creatures we saw a couple of times appeared in Harry Potter original series. Eddie Redmayne is a rock star in this film: he not only leads but he is so believable you will start looking for him in the crowd next time you go for a walk in the city. J.K. Rowling nae appearing in the titles will reassure you that the final product will be terrific - nothing less only better than before! The direction of David Yates will give you a double credit that you are going to see something extra-ordinary. We watched the film in 2D Geld Class, but I recommend you for this particular film treat yourself generously with 3D and Gold Class - you will not regret but will want to see it twice or more times. We had a group of young girls attending the screening with us and they were screeming in excitement after each gorgeous scene. I believe the cast was fantastic, they played to the perfection and wee all well suited for their cases. A good film should contain a bit of sadness a bit of good humor, a bit of romance and a bit of enemies to battle with. This picture has it all in great balance. We look forward to watching the next one coming up in 2018! Just cant' wait!
MONSTER FILM FESTIVAL: THE AUTOPSY OF JANE DOE website review by Mahsan Ahmadi
Ding...Ding...Ding....! It's still following me everywhere...!
This sound just gets stuck in my mind and reminds me the spine-tingling ghost story movie "The Autopsy Of Jane Doe". This nail biting movie with just a minimal set but very strong effective sound effects will have you on the edge of your seat. Ding... Ding... Ding...! Coroners Austin and Tony, a father and a son were supposed to autopsy an unidentified young woman who was half-buried under the house where the whole family was killed with unclear reason. As they debut the autopsy, they face some changes which make them frightened. The further they get into the autopsy procedure, the creepier it gets... The plot develops and we are given more and more information.
Under the layers of the corpse beside those broken bones and internal scars some runic symbols can be obviously seen which leads them to find out Jane was an unorthodox woman that takes the other soul to keep being alive.
Ding ding ding - it was one of the corpse from morgue to follow the doctors, to take their lives and to get it to the other corpses.
I really loved the role of the corpse who was obliged to just lie down with no movement.Of course it needs a hard work to just keep still and nice and a hundred percent she practiced many hours on Yoga and some other activities like that to play that amazing role.
So if you want to experience minutes of excitement and fear, I would highly recommend you to watch this horror movie to scare you out of your wits.
"Seven" is a thriller to keep you transfixed, fascinate and disturb at the same time from the start. Taking place in the unknown town, two detectives partner to investigate the murders. One, who has experience of it all and the other green and ambitious. Morgan Freeman usually plays strong and authoritive characters and so in Seven he does it simply naturally. When realising the killings connect to seven deadly sins, the old detective resigns in the library to consider the killer's moral statements through studying about the sins. While Brad Pitt's character chooses to go into the murder's mind to try to think like him. The whole movie is done in a perfect noir style expressing nothing but fatalism and menace. The killer, played by Kevin Spacey, exposes himself 30 minutes before the movie finishes and completely dominates it since then. The actor hasn't failed a bit to portray the most Evil using his face, voice and composer of a true phycopath. The culmination of the most horrific, disturbing and totally unexpected scene comes towards the end of this film, which probably makes it a classic thriller of our times.
BILLY LYNN'S LONG HALFTIME WALK website RATE:8.5/10
Wars are created so we can kill the other people who do not want peace. Peace is created by killing people who do not correspond with our understanding of world. The less we have of those people the more peace we will have... Does it sound stupid enough to you?..
Who is Billy Lynn? Billy is a soldier. He is not an ordinary soldier. Billy is a hero. He killed people. He saved lives of his co-troopers. He saved our lives. He fought in Iraq. He fought for oil. He killed for people better regime in the country. he was hated by Iraqians. He survived where normal people would loose their minds. He knows the art of killing because he was taught how to do it right. He is loved by best girl because girls love heroes. they do not like when the heroes get tired and get retired. they will never date no-hero. Women like to be seen with close heroes especially to war heroes. It gives him even more security.
What is Halftime Walk? I found out for myself that this is an interruption between the two parts of the rugby game in America when entertainment takes place. The entertainment is a blast: the one superstar changes the other. Beoynce is a superstar. She stands close to the heroes. That make the stars the heroes too. That makes the heroes the stars. The heroes and the stars walk at the break of the game to the stage and create a live show with Beoynce in her song about the soldiers in front of the 10,000 stadium where people pay thousands of dollars only to have the right to buy tickets .
Why the walk is so long? - the song is only 3-4 minutes. Billy lives his own live during this walk, during this show. he has his own show in his mind. He sees war, he sees his mother home in Texas. He sees his family and he sees the battles in Iraq. She show goes on. Billy finds himself between the two worlds: between the war and between the peaceful life in America. Billy's psychological crisis is strange to us as we do not know much about the traumas and tragedies all soldiers go through at the wars. At the same time we understand why Billy is like this. Civilians do not know what their "heroes" g through at the battling fields.
The film is powerful enough for you to break into tears in the middle of it. I could not keep the tears because of the feelings of being powerless to change anything in this world because of the world's stupidity, blindness and vulnerability.
Joe Alwyn (Billy) is maginifent is this role, his "hero" is defenseless when the feelings take him by his hand, he is not weak but he is a human being, he opens up in front of us to the point when we can see and feel his soul and what he is going through. After the horrors f the war Billy faced his Bravo Squad victory tour across America feels as empty and pointless as the rugby game cheap show itself.
I trust the movie will be quoted and these quotes will be memorized by the viewers. The actors are very good but not brilliant except Joe. Perfect movie and well delivered ideas.
ROYAL SHAKESPEARE COMPANY: KING LEAR website RATE: 9/10
We all read Shakespeare's timeless story that is still sound so modern even with 400 passed. King Lear is ageless classic that will never vanish as never vanish the father and daughter relationship. The world develops and grows but the issues are still the same: we are betrayed by our children and we are loved unconditionally by our children. But the story is well known for me just wasting my time to retell it. We all read it at school many years ago. The Royal Shakespeare Company surprises by staging solutions, by characters' growth and selection and by the interpretation where we see King Lear more mad than tragic, his younger daughter more gentle and tender in her love to her father than sad in her feelings about his wrong decisions. It is different from what we used to see though it is a pleasant and it is deep and so very well done by the actors' crew. I loved the comments on the costumes and showing the audience behind the scenes and how the dresses are made and what the purpose of each is. It is much more complicated that we think... The theater production is a must to see indeed!
I you love cartoons this is the anime you will adore, If you love Japanese cartoons this is the one to fall in love with... If you love incredibly good Japanese cartoons then this is the one you will not want to miss! It is delicate, it is so well filmed I could not understand how it was done - to show the small dust particles and camera sun-spot reflections as if it was all captured on real camera - I HAVE NO WORDS how technically and artistically good this anime is - to be honest I have not seen anything like this in my life. The idea of the story is strange though: a young big city boy and a young country girl "swap" their bodies while they day or night dreaming... they have never met before ... and they try to find each other in real life. The film is fine and delicate like a ilk pattern made with love and care.
QUOTES: Hitoha Miyamizu: Treasure the experience. Dreams fade away after you wake up.
Mitsuha Miyamizu: Musubi? Hitoha Miyamizu: Miyamizu: Musubi is the old way of calling the local guardian god. This word has profound meaning. Typing thread is Musubi. Connecting people is Musubi. The flow of time is Musubi. These are all the god's power. So the braided cords that we make are the god's art and represent the flow of time itself. They converge and take shape. They twist, tangle, sometimes unravel, break, and then connect again. Musubi - knotting. That's time.
Katsuhiko Teshigawara: It's the oldest sake in the world. By chewing on rice, spitting it out, and letting it ferment, it becomes alcohol. Sayaka Natori: Kuchikamisake. Do the gods appreciate sake made that way? Katsuhiko Teshigawara: Of course they do.
Mitsuha Miyamizu: There's no way we could meet. But one thing is certain. If we see each other, we'll know. That you were the one who was inside me. That I was the one who was inside you.
It is a film about love and friendship, teenagers and magic. It is full of humor and adventure, hope and self discovery. At some stages the anime was so fabulous I forgot I was watching the anime not the real film captured the reality on camera.
The soundtrack was incredibly gorgeous too. I also believe that lots of the film subtitles got lost in translation and there was much more in the text than we could read and understand. At this moment I thought I should have learnt Japanese.
One word about his animation: it is phenomenal!
GERMAN FILM FESTIVAL 2016: HODUR website review by Jeanette Russel
Hordur is a film from the German film festival. It was a heartwarming story of a 17 yr old girl named Aylin . Hordur is a beautiful stallion who is on a farm where Aylin is to do community service. She finds herself, as ordered by the court, working at a horse stable, where she meets Hordur. Aylin is clearly moved by this horse and becomes bonded with him. Learning to ride she is keen to be able to ride Hordur and eventually enter into an event with him. Even her school life becomes better settling things at school. Before this her sentence to community service, was as a result of trouble at school. Delightful story mainly told through the eyes of this young girl, and her battles at school and at home after losing her mother when she was 16. Beautiful scenery, in the countryside, and other scenery depicting her and her families life challenges. An enlightening film, I found, about Aylin's journey, and despite many trails, discovering her talents and joys in her life. I felt the film was well made. It was directed by Ekrem Ergun who also did the screenplay and is well worth watching. Entertaining and thought provoking, I found it to be engaging to watch. Giving the film 4 out of 5 I highly recommend seeing it. Thank you for the opportunity to review this film. It was my pleasure to view it.
RUSSIAN RESURRECTION FILM FESTIVAL 2016 OPENING NIGHT: THE STUDENT website RATE: 7.5/10
The film of dir. Serebrannikov is scary and very complex to say the least. It is the selection of t he opening night for the RRFF2016 which was a bit of a harsh choice IMHO. The reality of the modern Russia is shown in its best. Through the character of the main hero, Venya Yuzhin the director shown the social crisis and the inability of the different social groups and institutions to resolve it. We follow Venya and his strange journey and his search for truth. Vnya is not a common boy, his sick attraction to religion sounds like a warning at the start and as a cry for help at the end of the movie. Venya uses the Bible as his book of living, he breathes the Bible and he follows its teaching. But his theoretical knowledge does not apply to real life that challenges him at its every corner: for example the girl that chases him (the episode with the kiss) and the episode with food sharing at the table when his mom gives all they have to him and his friend and Venya does not even have a second thought that he probably should share his food with his mom. More to that the inability to apply The Bible to life makes him aggressive to the point when the act of killing is no more a problem. Venya does not see anyone else around him, he is the central figure - there is only him and him in this world, nor he cares about the feelings of the others. Venya's family situation is not the best you can wish for anyone - his father left the family and he is raised by his mother who is inconsistent in her demands to her son. Venya's father is God. But God is no beter that his father. Nothing works Venya's way. Venya turns into a teenager who will destroy anything on his way , anything that does not work his, Venya's way. He destroys though weak and vulnerable being weak and vulnerable himself. Venya's obsession with God turns into almost a schizophrenia; there are some episodes that are too painful to watch. Now no one understand him: not his crying mother, not the pope, not the school psychologist, not his friends and those who seem to understand him ultimately want something from him. I really loved the actors selected although Venya seemed sometimes not believing what he was saying and playing a bit weaker than demanded from his character. The best actress IMHO was Venya's psychologist, a very powerful role that was performed with perfection. The film seem not to have any way out of the tunnel of the problems raised: the director of the school simply walks away from the final scene and slams the door, the pope seeks solution in the features of the church but not in the true words and philosophy, Venya's mom is hopeless beyond any understanding, Venya's psychologist is sacked from school and goes mad herself, instead of helping each other people leave each other in the most terrible situations. There is not even one positive character shown in the film. The disabled homosexual Venya;s friend , who is the only light in this darkness has to go as he knows way too many secrets now. The hope is lost and the tomorrow is never shown in this film - there are only ghosts left in the school's empty halls who talk... but who will listen to them? None of the systems seem working for raising the best and healthiest generation: the church fails, the schools fails so does the family. If you are up for entertainment in this movie be reassured - you will not find it!
The Founder is an extraordinary film about the founder of Mc Donald's chain of restaurants, Ray Croc, The film that contains the information that Ray (if he was alive) would never allow to put in in his biography film. Although it does not show Ray from his best side the movie reveals to us the secrets how the big money are made. When a new business is open by a 52 year old man the result matters more than the ways the money are made: there are no honesty, there are no dignity and there is nothing that will stop the person who has the aim and who does everything possible to achieve it. The best scene in the movie: when Ray feels and he knows he wants and has everything in this world - not only the money but the gorgeous girl does and it not matter whose wife she is now and he plays the piano with her - the epic episode indeed to see a dry character and a cold blood businessman who is seduced and loves it being done to him. As you may know the screenplay for this film was featured in the 2014 Blacklist; a list of the "most liked" unmade scripts of the year. You will understand why when you see it.
Robert Frank: Don't Blink is a phenomenal documentary about a revolutionary photographer from NY Robert Frank and his life artistic journey. His surreal views are still under study of the photography experts. He snaps everywhere he goes, he surprises with his world vision to say least. The film talks about his life rocky roads and hardships at the times when people simply do not survive the stress, but Robert works and he hides his pain under the wing of the art. If you are fond of photography in its most artistic expressions you will love the film - as I did 100%
WHO'S JENNA..? review by Mahsan Ahmadi
If you were away from comedy films for a while, I highly recommend you to watch "Who Is Jenna?" As it starts with very ridiculous sexy conversation between couples, it motivates you to keep watching it in excitement. Jonathan, the main character of the movie is dating a girl who looks quite similar to a very famous adult film star and his friends are trying to convince him to break up with her because they all already know her as a how can I softly put it: b*tch. But Jonathan is entirely in love with his girlfriend indeed. Jenna is a lawyer and she is trustworthy. Jonathan is always doubtful what to do with his relationship while his boss in black mailing him. The man who works with Jonathan had a adult film-making company and Jonathan's friend who is a real expert in such movies comments: "Your movies are great; it's not only f"ing they're like Sheiks pier F*ing" Good to mention that, although the movie is mostly related to adult film subject there is not one single episode in it which can make your face blush which is an advantage watching the movie like this in the family; just laughing and enjoying together. I found it quite funny and very entertaining to watch.
THE MET OPERA: TRISTAN UND ISOLDE website review by Nadia Pleshkova
For opera lovers and particularly the powerful Richard Wagner, "Tristan und Isolde" is a must to see and listen. It is his short opera with length of over four hours, compared to the longest ever "Ring Cycle" one of 18 hours in length. Wagner himself called his "Tristan und Isolde" the best of his operas. Influenced by Celtic legend, the tale made its way to our modern times from the 12th century and the emotions reflected in music considered to be the personal experience of Wagner in love suffering with impossible progress after all. Thus, the personal experience prompted the search for musical and emotional expression of the love that was untrammeled by social standards. The story narrates the idea of romantic love between the Cornish night and hero Tristan and a beautiful Irish princess Isolde. Wagner creates the great mix of drama, poetry and the tonality in music that makes the whole composition simply sensual, spiritual, erotic and intelligent. The music seem to take you out of this place into the space where no time exists. Perhaps because of this effect as well as the use of non standard, brand new combination of the notes in the chord titles "Tristan und Isolde" as the most influential and powerful opera of all times. Live in HV production is made possible by a generous grant from The Neubauer Family Foundation and Bloomberg Philanthropies. It was a debut by Stuart Skelton, who absolutely loved working with Nina Stemme, playing Isolde. The interviews after or before each acts were fascinating and very educational too. Brilliant voices. I loved them:) I thought they matched each other really well from voices point of view as well as physically.
The film is all about Ella Havelka, the first Indigenous at the Australian Ballet. We follow together with Ella her daily training, her stage performances at the Bangarra Dancing Troupe and the Australian Ballet, her family (mother) and her friends, her early years of work and her progress, her teachers and her interests, her tours together with the classical ballet group and her individual work on her own creations and much more. I really enjoyed the film. It is calm and not pretentious, it is very educating for the young beginners of dancing schools and it is also shows a bit of history of the ballet as an art. The best part IMHO was the basket making. I loved Ella's genuine and kind smile above all in this film - you reflect on Ella's journey and understand her soul. It is a beautifully done film.
JEWISH INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL: THE PICKLE RECIPE website RATE: 6/10
This is the strangest film I have ever seen: it is funny and entertaining but the pace changes every 5 minutes. In some parts it is so unforgivably slow and so predictable ad boring you want to die but at some parts you literally fall down from your chair laughing. The actors' performance is also very uneven: Alex and I could notice what parts the actors did not like and what parts they enjoyed playing. But overall acting was quite poor: I would only praise the performance of the youngest in the crew: Taylor Groothuis and sensational Lynn Cohen who were both a head above the rest of the crew. But even their brilliant acts could not save it. At the very start I was close to give this film 4.10 but as the plot developed my stars raised. Overall it is fun to watch but would not be on my priority list of the JIFF that has so many outstanding titles on show this year (I blame Alex for this selection of course :o) ) By the way, the tickets were almost sold for this film... and selling out very fast for te other movies at the festival. I recommend to buy them before they run out of seats for the best movies. There is one more thing I forgot to mention: I could not help but compare this film with Woody Allen's movies and thought how HE would do this or that episode. Woody won of course.
I like strange behaving people. I love what the family did in the movie too as we did very similar things when our kids were young: appearing in front of our friend's house with two violins, paying and begging them for money, cross dressing, popping to our friend's place and mowing their front lawn at 0600am in the morning and then sending them the bill for this work etc etc. Our fantasy was endless.... I was thinking that the movie could have been done 100 tomes better, funnier etc etc... It got such a rewarding subject but it snapped sometime in the middle somehow and it went down and down... I do not want such stories to end - they are so full of fantasy and wild imagination - I would not call it art though - it might be a game of reality but it is not art. You do not record these stories, you just remember them. We seem to be more boring these days but I can imagine that as in the movie our kids would not accept our "crazy" ideas anymore. They grew up from this but hopefully they will find the partners who will share they values too and will have a fun life. If you asking me if the star-sparkling cast made this film better for me? Perhaps - but just a bit ... In the good movie everything is important : the cast, the story line , the pace, the camera, the music etc etc... It all adds up and shapes. This film for some reason did not resonate in my soul although had everything done right except the connection to the audience... I will leave it for our readers to figure out what was missing...
GERMAN FILM FESTIVAL: HER COMPOSITION website review by Nadia Pleshkova
"Her Composition" is the movie about Malorie, a talented music composition student in the most prestigious college one can dream of, who doesn't meet the deadline to pass her exams. She looses the scholarship and her boyfriend at the same time to face the struggles of surviving on a student's loan as well as finding an inspiration to compose. Just like a New York's subway with all its various directions, we follow Malorie's mind map for her inspirations for texture, sound and volume for her own composition. Through awakening to the reality of her present situation and finding the inspiration in the list of the most unusual sort - the list of the clients of a former escort girl, Malorie starts forming her special piece. What music would she write? Would she find her confidence? Would she prove to herself that perhaps it is a feminine as a force has always been dominating and not dominated as a transverse of any creation? Uncertainty and unknownness of the answers is gripping a spectator's attention till the very end of the movie.
Suburban Cowboy is a tough movie based on real events. The drug dealer on Long Island USA finds himself in troubles when one of his men got involved with some cruel Serbian gangsters. When the expenses have to be paid s he is forced to take extreme actions to get out of the situation.
Furthermore, a love story was embedded in this film story line as well to show how love empowers a person in tough situation;.the plot twists in this film will have you on the edge of your seat with just minimal set but very interesting sound effects.
