THE CLOWN MAY BE THE SOURCE OF MIRTH BUT WHO SHALL MAKE THE CLOWN LAUGH?
SLAVA SNOWSHOW IN AUSTRALIA 2013
SLAVA’S SNOWSHOWis a breathtaking spectacle of beautifully crafted comic images, restoring childish wonder in people of all ages. “The single most beautiful thing I have ever seen in a theatre in my life.” Simon Callow, Sunday Express, UKFollowing his sensational performance as part of Cirque du Soleil’s Alegria, Slava went on to create his own SLAVA’S SNOWSHOWwhich has become a multi award-winning international sensation, delighting and thrilling audiences in more than 120 cities around the world, from London’s West End to Sydney and from New York to Moscow.
SLAVA’S SNOWSHOW is a fusion of traditional and contemporary theatrical clowning arts. The show brilliantly creates a world of wonderment and fantasy that transports the audience to a joyous dream-like place, where a bed becomes a boat in a storm-tossed sea; a woman is wrapped in cellophane and becomes flowers in a vase; a child walks in amazement inside a bubble; Slava boards a train and then becomes the train, his chimney-pot hat billowing smoke; and a web of unspun cotton envelopes the audience.
The stunning finale sees a letter turn into snowflakes, and the flakes turn into a snowstorm, which whirls around the auditorium, leaving the audience ankle-deep in snow.
SLAVA’S SNOWSHOWis a visual masterpiece loved by children and adults alike.

Eight performers use everything from supermarket trolleys to Zippo lighters, plastic bags to bin lids, and even the kitchen sink to hammer out an explosively feel-good rhythm.
STOMP is a show that continues to evolve – new music and choreography now join a fresh array of ordinarily mundane objects, onto which the cast work their musical magic.

IF I CAN NOT FLY LET ME SING
SING-A-LONG-A SOUND OF MUSIC
A surprise celebrity host will guide the audience through what is an unforgettable interactive experience and tribute to the very unique film The Sound of Music.
See the classic movie on the big screen, re-mastered to its original cinematic glory. Admit it, you know the words – and if you don’t there are song-sub-titles so EVERYONE can sing a-long! Sing-A-Long –A Sound of Music is an audience participation event where the host leads a vocal warm-up, gives a guide to the use of the interactive fun pack and accompanying actions and (with a little help from the audience) judges the Costume Parade - a highlight of the night that separates the die-hards from the dabblers!
An overwhelming force takes over, as delirious fans cheer on Julie Andrews, wolf-whistle Christopher Plummer, hiss the Baroness and boo the Nazis! And who could forget the glorious moment when Maria and the Captain finally kiss? Not to mention the experience of 2000 party poppers going off simultaneously as their lips touch!
The costumes worn by the audience are truly inspiring. A sea of black and white floods the foyer of the State Theatre year after year as fans eagerly dressed as nuns gather for the show and sing a few of their favourite songs. Audience members have dressed as anything and everything from the movie.... Maria, girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes, Plumbers (Christopher Plummers!) the Alps, brown paper packages tied up with string, goats (with or without lonely goatherds), larks that are learning to pray – the possibilities are endless..... limited only by your imagination.
So what are you waiting for? Frock up for the ultimate musical affirmation; a celebration of nature, spirituality, love, family, patriotism, and goodness, combined with perfectly pitched songs, and the screen presence of feisty, Julie Andrews.
Round up your favourite friends, take your vows, and tear down the curtains, whip up a cozzie, clear your throats, fill your lungs and take your seats to become stars of the world’s favourite musical.

Winners: Sylvester K, Michael P Review: A-LONG-A SOUND OF MUSIC’ – Event review (Melbourne Arts Centre, State Theatre – 16 & 17 August 2013) A most original and interactive musical event that was built around the original 1965 film, The Sound of Music (with Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer). It was a time for the audience to dress up and also sing along (helped by subtitles). Preceding the film, there was a lot of fun on the stage with children, nuns, animals and a variety of characters from the musical (200 plus). The lively audience participation was uplifting and added to the timeless and wonderful Sound of Music! Sylvester Kroyherr, musician
