The 40th Historic Winton On Saturday May 28th we had a wonderful opportunity to visit the special event: the 40th Anniversary of the Austin 7 Club Historic Winton, the largest and most popular all-historic motor race meeting presenting two big days of non-stop car and motorbike racing.
Historic Winton has a special place in Australian Motor Sport as the only 2x4 historic event with both cars and bikes running at the same meeting point. Over 400 historic racing cars and motorbikes from the 1910th to the 1980th were featured during the show which took place at the Winton Motor Raceway, the popular circuit located near Benalla, Victoria. The circuit hosts to some of the country’s biggest and most prestigious automotive and motor-sport events including the V8 Supercars, Shannons Nationals, Historic Festival of Speed, Performance Car Mania, Australian Superbike Championship and many others.
The event was well spaced out, the display was fantastic and you could easily move around to observe the race from lots of different viewing points. The crowd was enthusiastic and positive; they all watched the races with great interest. There were a lot of races scheduled and we enjoyed watching them greatly.
Apart from racing the guests and the participants could also enjoy various displays – numerous classic cars and historic motorbikes and the Heritage display featuring the selection of vintage and classic pushbikes and even vintage radios and a unique display of scaled-down steam engines and steam driven vehicles. Male members of the family loved their time at the Competition Paddock, having a closer look at fabulous old racing machines and motorbikes and talking to their proud and enthusiastic owners.
There were plenty of food stalls to suit every taste, with food being tasty and well priced and lots of other pop-up shops offering various items – from vintage auto magazines to some lovely souvenirs to take home along with the awesome memories of the day.
