I just thought I’d come back to my old topic of macrobiotic diet and summarize it a bit considering the last article was way too long so probably not many of you had time and patience to read it all.
I will go this time by food groups and will call it advanced macrobiotic.
Whole grains include:
brown rice, bulgar, buckwheat, pearl, wheat, rye, quinoa, unprocessed oats, any kind of sprouted grains, corn, millet, maze faro, spelt, and many others that sometimes might not be available in this part of the globe. The grinding should be done on a hand machine – better with stones. But the latter is ideal of course. Wheat, rice and oat gem is excellent for your body.
Soups
miso and the soups including the ingredients listed here. I often buy the made up and very tasty soups that are sold in the supermarkets – they include bamboo shoots and fox nuts and lots of other unusual ingredients. As long as all of them grow and they are natural – they are fine to cook, combine and eat.
Dairy.
the best are buttermilk and natural yogurts that do not contain any additives – just pure AcBi. White cheeses (especially goat cheeses) are OK too.
Beverages.
any fruit, berries and vegetable juices (preferably the latter made out of root veggies); herbal teas of any kind and green tea. The best juices are the ones made with a presser, not on a rotating juicing machine
Oils.
the best ones are cold pressed like flaxseed, olive, apricol kernel and other unrefined oils. Cod liver oil (or any fish oil, not industrially packaged) is good too. The best source of the latter is fish itself. Natural cow butter is good but in very small amounts
Fruit and berries.
anything that
grows above the earth level is good and great for your health
unless it is not processed. Any processed fruit should be avoided.
Only the ones that are picked up from a tree are good for you.
Though try to eat the fruit that grow in your region. Any exotic
plants are only exotic but not good for your health. You need to be
close to your plants so they hear your needs and requirements
healthwise – we all communicate on some level. Dried fruit and good
too but watch out for additives and try to go to organic in this case
as they taste better
Legumes
are all good. They include Soy and products made out of it (tofu, tempeh), beans (the best are red-eye beans), and the other legumes and beans
Meat, fish, seafood and poultry
are good in small amounts and if they are prepared in the right way. Any parts of the animals are the best for you. Remember that your ancestors when hunt would always go for animal liver and inner organs first as they contain better concentration of minerals and vitamins. Do not forget that we should not leave the best parts for the dogs as we tend to do now! Best fish – the one from a deep waters. White kinds of fish are healthier.
Additions.
bee pollen, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, salt, spices (dry and fresh – ginseng, ginger, turmeric etc), honey, agave nectar, malt syrup, maple syrup, brown sugar, bitter dark chocolates, molasses should be used in small amounts
Greens and Veggies.
anything that grows above, on and below the earth level is good and great for your health unless it is not processed. Any processed, frozen, canned or packaged veggies and greens should be avoided. Pay attention on the following: cabbage family – broccoli, kale, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, red and white cabbage of any kind, bok choy etc; and onion and garlic families: red, spring and while onions, garlics; pumpkin family; sprouts of any kinds, sea vegetables (like seaweeds of any kind), sprouts (like asparagus, bean sprouts, alfalfa, chives, barley and wheat grass etc); leafy vegetables and greens like lettuce, watercress, spinach, sorrel, lambs lettuce, rocket, endive etc
Mushrooms
of any kind is good for you (not only shiitake) as all of them have their purpose to serve for your body.Read our article on mushrooms here.
Nuts and seeds
All nuts are good for you. (hasel-nuts, wallnuts, brazil nuts, cashews and maccadamia) the best ones though are the those that are not shelled (uncracked) as they preserve the energy needed for your physical body. When they are un-shelled (cracked) they will be good for two three days only. The best nuts are almonds. All nuts should be eaten raw. They loose their quality when they are roasted. The best seeds for you are flaxseeds. Although sesame, pumpkin, sunflower and other seeds are also very good. Pay attention to apricot kernels too.
But the most important thing in you healthy eating is your mood. Eat only when you are happy. Then the food will bring you joy, love and good energy. When you start eating say your prayers and thank the food and the earth that gave you the food on your table. They aree did their best for you listening to your needs and requirements. Remember that your food is alive. I only realised it after I had went on a 40 days water-only fast. I started eating vegetable soups on the 60th day of my fast remission. I could literally feel that my vegetables were alive. I will never forget them talking to me with happiness and complete joy - this is how the secret of live food was revealed to me and I will never forget this sensation of the merry veggies touching and dancing on my tougue...
And you see – there is no room for any garbage here… too much of healthy staff that can fit in your day...
